Seoul Virus in Pet Rats

The CDC has been working with the Illinois Department of Health and the Wisconsin Department of Health Services to investigate cases of Seoul virus infection in eight people.

Seoul Virus is a zoonotic disease carried primarily by Norway rats, though other species of rat can also carry it.  Rats infected with the virus typically do not appear sick.  The virus is not spread between people.
