Home to Home Adoptions

 What is Home To Home?

Home To Home is a service the Champaign County Humane Society offers to pet owners in the community who are seeking to place their pet(s) in new homes without ever entering a shelter. This program helps reduce stress on both owners and their pet, while simultaneously reducing the number of animals being relinquished to shelters. Home To Home is a resource not just for those who need to rehome their pet, but also for those interested in adopting.

How do I rehome a pet via Home To Home?

If you are needing to rehome your pet and wish to do so privately, please visit the Home To Home website. You will be prompted to create profiles for both yourself and your pet. CCHS will review your post, and tentatively approve or deny the request within 72 hours.

Once your post has been approved, potential adopters will be able to contact you through Home To Home about their interest in adopting the pet.  All communication with the interested parties, meetings, and the adoption are handled by you. Tips and resources for successfully rehoming your pet via Home To Home can be found on their website, here.

We strongly recommend that you take a look at Home To Home's tips to increase your chances of securing a really good home for your pet.

How do I adopt a pet on Home To Home?

Visit the Champaign County Humane Society’s Home To Home page to view adoptable pets in the community. These pets are NOT located at the shelter.

Click on the animal’s photo to view their profile and information. From the pet’s page, you can message the owner with questions and discuss scheduleing an introduction. All communication regarding meeting and adopting these pets is handled directly between the owner and you – CCHS will not assist in facilitating adoption of a pet listed on Home To Home.

PLEASE NOTE: Home To Home does not allow rehoming fees. This is a free service for pet owners in the community.
