Animal Care & Animal Admissions Staff – Full Time

CCHS has an open full-time position for Animal Care & Animal Admissions Staff.  

The Animal Care & Animal Admissions position includes responsibility for scheduling animal relinquishment appointments and processing animal intakes at the humane society’s animal shelter. This individual also works as part of the Animal Care Team, providing daily care for shelter animals. These duties include kennel/cage cleaning, animal feeding, dog walking, cleaning of animal housing areas and supply areas, and data entry.

Hours will include weekend days, some evenings, and some holidays.  Starting pay is $16.75 an hour.

 

Qualifications:

  • Applicants must be 21 years of age or older
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills 
  • Animal handling experience (dogs, cats, various small animal species)
  • Calm under pressure
  • Experience handling animals in an animal shelter or veterinary environment is a plus

Responsibilities include:

  • Respond to animal-intake inquiries via phone and email
  • Accurately communicate CCHS processes and policies to people seeking to relinquish pets to CCHS
  • Schedule animal admissions
  • Process animal admissions (paperwork, administering vaccines/preventatives, customer service, etc.)
  • Enter all pertinent animal-intake-data into the animal management software
  • Maintain effective communication with supervisors and management regarding intake-capacity and the flow of animals from arrival to adoption
  • Assist animal care staff with daily tasks, including animal kennel/cage cleaning, cleaning of animal supply and support areas, inventory management, animal handling, dog walking, noting changes in animal health and behavior, and data entry.
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Physiological Considerations:

  • Physically demanding position and involves exposure to loud noise
  • Exposure to strong chemicals/cleaning products
  • Exposure to extreme weather conditions
  • Heavy lifting (minimum of 50 lbs)

Adoption Staff – Full Time

CCHS has an open full-time position on the Adoption staff. Adoption staff members greet the public and assist our patrons in finding their next animal companion.

Hours will include weekend days, some evenings, and some holidays.  Starting pay is $16.00 an hour.

 

Qualifications:

  • Experience handling animals is required
  • Knowledge and/or experience related to pet ownership
  • Friendly and outgoing
  • Effective communicator in person, via email, and over the phone
  • Adept at using a computer and performing accurate data entry

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Answering phones and assisting callers
  • Facilitating safe and positive interactions between animals and potential adopters
  • Processing adoption applications
  • Explaining details of pet health and behavior records to adopters
  • Explaining details of adoption policies and contracts with adopters
  • Preparing the animal shelter for daily open-hours
  • Animal Care duties, such as kennel/cage cleaning, dog walking

  • Must be able to represent the humane society in a positive manner
  • Must possess good safety awareness and judgement
