Thinking about spring cleaning? Think of us too!

Thinking about spring cleaning?  Think of us too!

And mark your calendars for the 31st Annual Giant Garage Sale on Memorial Day Weekend, Friday and Saturday May 22nd and 23rd at the Champaign County Fairgrounds.  Plus a "Give-a-way" of leftover items on Sunday the 24th for an admission fee of $1.00.

We’ll begin accepting drop-offs of donated items at noon on Thursday, May 14 and continue until Sunday, May 17 at 3 pm, when we’ll have to close the doors and start getting organized for the sale.  Hours for drop-offs:

Thursday and Friday (May 14 & 15):  Noon to 7:00 pm

Saturday, May 16:  9:00 am to 3:00 pm

Sunday, May 17:  Noon to 3:00 pm

All donations are tax deductible and if you’re a retailer, we welcome your excess inventory.

What do we want?  Good, useable and unbroken items.  Clothing donations are welcome, as are books.  Items that always sell well include:  gardening equipment, tools, kitchen appliances, art and craft supplies, silk flowers, pet supplies, decorative items, fishing poles, and bicycles.  Every year something new becomes the “hot item.”

So, when you’re looking to reduce clutter around the house, keep the Humane Society in mind.  Your donation will help the animals, and you can take a tax deduction as well.

For safety, health, and reasons of space, or because they simply don’t sell, we won’t accept the following:  carpeting; children’s car seats; chemicals; paint; tires or flammable liquids; outdated computer equipment; large appliances; large pieces of furniture or mattresses; home building supplies such as sinks, lumber, and windows; and weapons.  We also are unable to accept the unsold remainders of other organizations’ sales.

And while you’re thinking about us, consider a gift of your time.  The Giant Garage Sale presents our single biggest need for volunteers.  Whatever your skills, we can use you - unloading cars, cleaning, sorting, pricing, organizing, running cash registers, transportation of supplies to and from the shelter - the list is endless.

See you at the Fairgrounds!
